Reporting directly to executive leadership, this individual will have full P&L responsibility for multiple operating companies while partnering closely with local business leaders to improve financial performance, strengthen leadership teams, and implement operational best practices. This is a hands-on leadership role that balances strategic oversight with operational execution, making it well suited for an experienced operator who enjoys coaching leaders, driving accountability, and creating scalable business performance across decentralized organizations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own full P&L responsibility for a portfolio of operating companies within an assigned geographic region.
  • Partner with local business leaders to improve operational execution, financial performance, customer satisfaction, and profitability.
  • Drive revenue growth, margin improvement, operational consistency, and long-term value creation across multiple businesses.
  • Establish operating rhythms, performance metrics, business reviews, and accountability systems that support disciplined execution.
  • Coach and develop business leaders while preserving the entrepreneurial culture and local market strengths of each organization.
  • Identify operational improvement opportunities and implement best practices across the regional portfolio.
  • Partner with executive leadership on acquisitions, integration planning, strategic initiatives, and organizational growth.
  • Build trusted relationships with founders and business leaders while supporting successful integration of newly acquired companies.
  • Collaborate with centralized functional teams, including finance, human resources, recruiting, technology, and operations, to improve overall business performance.
  • Maintain a strong field presence through regular travel, providing hands-on leadership and support across the region.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of two years of direct multi-business or multi-site P&L ownership within a private equity-backed platform, acquisition-driven organization, or similar operating environment.
  • Demonstrated success leading multiple operating companies, business units, or geographic markets simultaneously.
  • Proven ability to improve operational performance, drive profitability, and scale organizations through disciplined execution.
  • Strong financial acumen with the ability to interpret business performance, identify opportunities, and implement corrective actions.
  • Experience leading senior operating executives, general managers, or business unit leaders.
  • Demonstrated success building high-performing teams, developing leaders, and creating accountability across decentralized organizations.
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively throughout the assigned region.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience within commercial services, residential services, specialty contracting, industrial services, facility services, building products, distribution, or other multi-location operating environments.
  • Experience supporting acquisitions, post-acquisition integration, and organizational scaling within a high-growth platform.
  • Familiarity working with founder-led or family-owned businesses transitioning into a private equity-backed organization.
  • Experience implementing operating systems, KPIs, performance management processes, and shared services across multiple businesses.
  • Military leadership experience.
  • MBA or other advanced business degree.
  • Hands-on, operator-oriented leadership style with a strong bias toward action and execution.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • High emotional intelligence with the ability to drive accountability and operational discipline while preserving entrepreneurial cultures.

Work Environment & Travel

This position is fully remote and may be based within the Eastern/Central United States. The role requires approximately 50% or more travel, particularly during onboarding, to build relationships with operating company leaders, assess business performance, and support operational initiatives across the portfolio.
