Position Overview
Our client is seeking a Vice President, Commercial Excellence (Sales Enablement & Growth) to build and scale the commercial operating system across a growing portfolio of operating companies.
This is not a traditional sales leadership role. Rather than directly managing a centralized sales organization or carrying an individual quota, this executive will develop the systems, processes, coaching programs, and operational disciplines that enable local commercial teams to consistently improve performance. Partnering closely with executive leadership and operating company leaders, the Vice President will establish scalable commercial playbooks, performance metrics, and best practices that drive sustainable organic growth while preserving the entrepreneurial culture of each business.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and lead the organization's Commercial Center of Excellence across a growing portfolio of operating companies.
- Develop standardized sales processes, playbooks, coaching programs, and performance metrics that improve commercial execution.
- Create and implement a scalable commercial operating system that drives consistent sales performance across multiple businesses.
- Partner with business unit leaders to strengthen local commercial organizations while preserving their unique cultures and customer relationships.
- Support recruiting, onboarding, training, and development of business development and sales professionals.
- Coach commercial leaders through field engagement, pipeline reviews, opportunity coaching, and best-practice sharing.
- Establish commercial operating rhythms including forecasting, pipeline management, KPI tracking, sales meetings, and accountability processes.
- Evaluate commercial performance across business units, identify opportunities for improvement, and implement scalable best practices.
- Partner with executive leadership to support long-term commercial strategy, organic growth initiatives, and future strategic growth opportunities.
- Build trusted relationships throughout the organization while driving consistency, accountability, and execution.
Qualifications
- Experience leading Commercial Excellence, Sales Enablement, Commercial Operations, Revenue Operations, or Commercial Transformation within a multi-site or multi-business organization.
- Demonstrated success building scalable commercial systems, sales processes, coaching programs, and operating disciplines across multiple business units.
- Strong operational mindset with experience using KPIs, forecasting, pipeline management, sales analytics, and performance management to drive measurable results.
- Proven ability to influence, coach, and develop commercial leaders without direct reporting authority.
- Commercial leadership experience within field service, business-to-business services, or other multi-location operating environments.
- Experience building repeatable processes, developing talent, and improving commercial execution across decentralized organizations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience within a private equity-backed platform, acquisition-driven organization, or multi-brand operating environment.
- Industry experience within commercial services, facility services, mechanical services, industrial distribution, building products, specialty contracting, or other multi-location service businesses.
- Military leadership experience.
- MBA or other advanced business degree.
- Experience with CRM and field service management platforms such as ServiceTitan or similar solutions.
- Builder mindset with a passion for creating scalable organizations, coaching leaders, and driving operational excellence.
- Entrepreneurial, highly collaborative, and execution-oriented with the ability to influence senior leaders across multiple businesses.
Work Environment & Travel
This position is fully remote and may be based anywhere within the continental United States. The role requires approximately 50% travel, particularly during the first several months, to build relationships with operating company leadership, understand individual businesses, and implement commercial best practices across the portfolio.
Compensation: Mid-High $200K's + significant equity
