The Opportunity: Vice President of Operations

Location

Remote (Relocation Opportunity as the Platform Scales)

Reports To

Platform Executive Leadership

Company Overview

Our client is a newly formed private equity-backed acquisition platform backed by one of the most successful entrepreneurs and investors of our generation. The leadership team is building the business from the ground up with a long-term vision to acquire, integrate, and scale exceptional founder-led companies across a fragmented industry. Rather than inheriting an existing organization, this is an opportunity to help build the operating foundation of the platform itself. The executive team is intentionally assembling a small group of elite veteran leaders who will play a foundational role in shaping the company's strategy, culture, operating model, and long-term growth.

Position Overview

The Vice President of Operations will serve as a key member of the executive leadership team, partnering directly with executive leadership to build and scale the operating platform. This leader will drive operational strategy across the organization while helping evaluate acquisitions, integrate new businesses, improve performance, and establish scalable systems that support long-term growth. This is a highly visible executive leadership opportunity for someone who thrives in entrepreneurial environments, enjoys building organizations from the ground up, and wants to play a meaningful role in creating long-term enterprise value.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with the CEO and executive leadership team to execute the company's long-term growth strategy.
  • Build and scale operational infrastructure to support a rapidly growing acquisition platform.
  • Lead operational excellence initiatives across portfolio companies, driving performance, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Evaluate acquisition opportunities from an operational perspective and support due diligence efforts.
  • Lead post-acquisition integration planning and execution to ensure successful transitions and value creation.
  • Develop standardized operating processes, performance metrics, and reporting systems across the platform.
  • Drive financial and operational performance through disciplined P&L leadership and KPI management.
  • Build, mentor, and develop high-performing leadership teams across acquired businesses.
  • Foster a culture centered on ownership, accountability, operational excellence, and servant leadership.
  • Partner closely with functional leaders across finance, strategy, business development, and talent to support continued platform growth.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate is an exceptional executive leader with a proven track record of driving operational excellence, strategic growth, and enterprise value creation. This individual combines elite leadership credentials with strong commercial acumen and thrives in highly demanding, high-performance environments where they can build organizations, solve complex business challenges, and lead transformational growth.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Graduate of a U.S. Service Academy strongly preferred.
  • Military leadership experience strongly preferred, with ideal backgrounds including Special Operations, Naval Submarine Force, or Military Aviation communities.
  • MBA from a top-tier business school (e.g., Harvard, Stanford, Wharton, Kellogg, Booth, MIT Sloan, Columbia, or Tuck) strongly preferred.
  • Experience with a leading management consulting firm (McKinsey, Bain, or BCG), investment banking, private equity operations, or a similarly rigorous strategic operating environment.
  • Demonstrated executive leadership experience driving strategy, operations, and enterprise value creation within complex organizations.
  • Experience supporting acquisitions, conducting operational due diligence, leading post-acquisition integrations, or scaling businesses through periods of rapid growth.
  • Strong financial acumen with meaningful P&L ownership and experience leveraging KPIs, operational metrics, and financial reporting to drive business performance.
  • Demonstrated success building and developing high-performing leadership teams while fostering a culture of accountability, ownership, and execution.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to operate effectively in fast-paced, high-growth environments where building systems, processes, and culture from the ground up is essential.
  • Exceptional executive presence, communication skills, emotional intelligence, and the ability to influence stakeholders across all levels of an organization.
  • A humble, mission-first leader with the ambition and capability to help build a category-defining acquisition platform alongside an elite executive team.

Compensation & Opportunity

This role offers an executive-level compensation package, significant long-term equity participation, and the opportunity to become a foundational member of a newly formed acquisition platform. The successful candidate will have meaningful influence over the company's long-term strategy, operational execution, and future growth while helping build an enduring organization from the ground up.

Work Environment & Travel

This is a full-time remote executive leadership position. The Vice President of Operations will work closely with the executive team while traveling periodically for acquisition due diligence, portfolio company visits, executive planning sessions, and integration activities. As the platform grows, there will be flexibility for the successful candidate to relocate closer to the organization's long-term headquarters if desired.
